Power Sector Analysis

The power sector in India is mainly governed by the Ministry of Power. There are three major pillars of power sector these are Generation, Transmission, and Distribution.
Total installed capacity of power stations in India stood at 370.34 GW as of April 2020. Electricity production reached 1,252.61 billion units (BU) in FY20.
COVID19 impacted the power sector as a change in the consumption level in terms of power supply has been observed on a year-on-year basis. The decrease of the power supply by 25% has been observed during the lockdown period, owing to the industrial manufacturing halt, being the major contributor.
